Just A Little Sparkle

As I get older I’ve found my style changing a lot with nail art and colours. I never used to like the ‘nude’ nail look but recently I’ve been loving this understated and chic choice.

Make Up Gallery’s Simply Nude polish is a beautiful and natural shade that looks so lovely even on my super short nails! I am wearing two coats in these photos.

If you want to add a little sparkle then Pixi Dust Pink is the perfect addition. I love how this adds warmth and shine without being overpowering.

Do you like a simple nail colour like this?

Vintage Stars With Cameras

I am going to the Peak District for a few nights away this weekend and will be spending a lot of time trying to take pretty pictures. Photography is a really fun hobby and one that many people enjoy whether it’s taking photos of animals, landscapes or just family occasions.

Here are a few fantastic photos of some of my favourite vintage stars having fun with a camera!

Vintage Makeup On A Budget

Make Up Gallery polishes are some of the best in my collection and after reading so many wonderful reviews of their makeup I decided it was time to try them for myself.

As someone who loves the vintage style I picked out three products to help create a glamorous 50s look. I chose their Good To Glow Highlighting Powder in Pearl Shimmer, Colour Moisture Lipstick in Deep Red and Matt Lip Colour in Cherry Pop.

The highlighter is a peachy tone with a soft shimmer that gives the most beautiful glow and doesn’t look overpowering on my fair skin. This has enough colour to wear without a blusher too which is wonderful.

Both lip colours are highly pigmented and last well on the lips. I’ve swatched both shades for you. This is just one swipe of each!

As you can see they are intense reds! They are similar in shade although they don’t look it in their tubes, but the matt cream does have a slightly brighter and pinkier tone.

The lip cream dries to a soft matt finish that doesn’t feel dry on the lips at all. This lasts a few hours before fading, but does so quite evenly so top ups aren’t necessary straight away.

The lipstick gives great coverage without feeling heavy and leaves lips feeling very soft!

I’m very impressed with the quality of all three products! For just £1 each they are fantastic value especially if you’re looking to try out a new look.

Step-By-Step Halloween Nail Art

My nails are not in their best condition right now after starting a new job but super short nails are not enough of a reason not to still have fun with nail art and polish!

Today I’m sharing a step-by-step guide on how to get this fun spooky look using some gorgeous polishes from Make Up Gallery!

Step 1: Start by applying two coats of Midnight Black.

Step 2: Using a dotting tool add pairs of spots using Winter White.

Step 3: Next add smaller dots of colour. I used Candy Pink, Parma Violet, Sunshine Yellow and True Teal.

Step 4: Add a tiny dot of Midnight Black for pupils.

Step 5: Finish the look with a layer of matt top coat.

This is a perfect look for Halloween!

I Heart Makeup: Go! Palette Review & Swatches

I’m really trying to share more makeup posts as I have such a huge collection and so I thought I would share a review of one of my favourite palettes!

This beauty is the Go! Palette from I Heart Makeup, the sister brand of Makeup Revolution.

There are 6 eyeshadows, a blusher, bronzer and a highlighter. Everything you need to complete your look!

Sometimes I don’t have the time, or the energy, to pick out individual products when getting ready so a palette that includes everything is super handy to have around!

The blusher, bronzer and highlighter are perfect shades for my fair skin tone! They apply well and last all day on me, though I have read on a few reviews that they haven’t lasted so well on other people. I’m not sure why that is, maybe a combination of skin types and what foundation products are used.

The eyeshadows are a lovely mix of neutral tones and a couple of darker colours. The cream shade is the only matte one and is the one I use most to brighten my eyes up. The other 5 colours are a shimmery/satin finish.

Each one applies well, blends easily with very little fall out and lasted a good 4 or 5 hours before any creasing. I think that’s very impressive considering I don’t use eye primer and have quite oily lids.

I love the versatility of this palette! Mostly I use this for a more subtle everyday makeup look but the darker eyeshadows make it fantastic to go for a smokey eye in the evenings. Such a space saver when travelling as you won’t need to pack lots of other products!

I hope you enjoyed this little review and swatches!

Make Up Gallery: Nail Art Decoration

Although I have been loving wearing plain colour polish recently, I love finding things that make me want to get creative with nail art. Make Up Gallery’s decoration set is perfect for experimenting with fun designs.

This set includes a wheel packed full of brightly coloured shapes (circles, squares and stars), 3 cuticle sticks, tweezers and a nail file. Definitely a bargain for just £1!

To show you how cute these little studs are I’ve kept each nail art quite simple.

For my first look I used Winter White for the base. I then carefully placed the circle studs into a flower shape. I love how these create a fun 60s hippie vibe!

For my second design I used Midnight Black and the star shapes to create a neon sky!

This set is such a great addition to any nail art collection, especially if you are just starting out or have never used studs before! I doubt you would find such a good quality set anywhere else.

Make Up Gallery: Matt Top Coat

Today I have a new and exclusive Make Up Gallery polish to share with you all! Their Matt Top Coat is the latest addition to their products and one that I am very excited about!

Let’s talk about the packaging first. As you can see, the bottle has a very stylish matt finish, which I think makes it look really lovely and much more expensive than it’s £1 price tag! The brush is a large flat style like the rest of Make Up Gallery’s polishes so application is quick and easy.

To show off this beautiful top coat I’ve gone for a nail art using three of my favourite things: purple, polka dots and flowers! I used the gorgeous Parma Violet as the base with Winter White for polka dots, which I did using Make Up Gallery’s marble dotting tool. After applying the top coat I added little flowers (not from Make Up Gallery) for a more interesting design.

The matt top coat applies smoothly and dries rather quickly. This turns matt before it is fully dry so be careful not to smudge your design!

Matt nails are always chic, especially as we go in to autumn, and what better than a good quality top coat at a such a low price! You can get this for yourself in Poundland very soon!

GOSH Eyelight Trio In Three Of A Kind

I’ve been trying to use more of my makeup collection recently rather than buying any new items to add. So I thought I would share reviews as I rediscover some of my favourite products. Today I’ve got the GOSH Eyelight Trio in 001 Three Of A Kind!

This mini palette is perfectly sized for travel or to pop in your handbag for any touch ups. I really like that there is a push release to open it which feels a lot sturdier than a standard clip close packaging. No need to worry about this getting all over the inside of your bag!

Three Of A Kind is made up of three beautiful shimmery shades. There’s a pearly white, pale pink, and gorgeous bronze. I love the versatility of this palette as they all look great worn together or alone and the white and pink can both be used as highlighter to accentuate brow and cheek bones.

I’m not an expert when it comes to eye makeup, though I do love playing around with it, and I found the texture of these eyeshadows really easy to work with. They blended well, are highly pigmented and lasted around 4 to 5 hours before I could notice any creasing which is definitely impressive as my eyelids tend to be a little oily.

Have you tried GOSH’s Eyelight Trio?

Nail Care With Make Up Gallery

Nail care has become an increasingly important part of my beauty routine over the last couple of years. Back when I started this blog in 2012 it was something I didn’t pay much attention to, preferring to just go straight to covering imperfections with nail polish. As I wanted to improve my nail art and swatches to share with you all I quickly learnt that the best way was to take more care of my nails and cuticles.

Today I’m sharing some super budget friendly products from Make Up Gallery that will get your nails looking beautiful!

Step 1 – Cuticle Oil: Brush the oil liberally over your cuticles and massage in. As your cuticles soften push them gently back. This oil is really fantastic for hydrating cuticles and soaks in very quickly. It’s more like a dry oil texture, think dry arran hair oil but for your nails.

Step 2 – Healthy Nails: At first I thought this was a polish but this is actually a nail oil. Brush this over the entire nail and massage in. Again, the texture of this is really good, not at all greasy! I also thought it left my nails looking much brighter and healthier.

Step 3 – Nail Hardener: Make sure your nails are oil free before applying this otherwise it will be bumpy and uneven. I like to remove excess oil with a moisturising polish remover. This nail hardener is super glossy and dries in a very impressive time! I use this when I’m not wearing colour and definitely love the natural glow it gives.

For only £1 each these are such a bargain! Pick them up at your local Poundland.

Vintage Stars Doing Their Makeup

As someone who loves vintage glamour I spend a lot of my spare time browsing photos on Pinterest of my favourite old hollywood stars. I love seeing the stunning photos of them posing in all the finest jewels and clothing with perfectly applied makeup.

But I think most of all I love finding the rare photos that are a bit more relatable. Like the ones I’m going to share today of some of the world’s most iconic women applying their own makeup!

Brigitte Bardot

Elizabeth Taylor

Bettie Page

Vivien Leigh

Sophia Loren

Ava Gardner

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing these photos! It’s a little different to my usual ramblings but I plan to incorporate more of my love of vintage into my posts and what better way than something makeup related!
