Recent Barry M Purchases: Swatches Included

It seems like forever since I last shared a nail post. My job has really taken its toll on my nails which is why I’ve moved towards more makeup and vintage posts. But seeing as my nails weren’t too bad last week I thought I would snap a few photos of my recent Barry M purchases.

The Gelly Paints are my absolute favourite polishes so I picked up Acai Smoothie which is from last year’s Spring/Summer release. This is a really gorgeous dusky mauve colour unlike anything in my collection. The formula applies perfectly, as with all the Gelly paints. This is two coats and no top coat.

I’ve been looking at swatches of the new Frosted Cupcakes collection since it was released and couldn’t resist grabbing one for myself. I chose Strawberries and Cream which is a soft blush pink. This is packed with crystal flakies but unfortunately getting them to show up was a little tricky. These photos definitely don’t do the sparkle any justice. I’m wearing two coats here with no top coat.

I’m constantly impressed with Barry M’s polishes and these two are no exception. Which of these is your favourite?

Sparkle Into The New Year

Today I’m sharing two of my favourite Barry M glitter polishes to inspire your next nail look!

Celebrating the New Year is the perfect time to wear all the glitter! So here are my two picks for nails that will sparkle the brightest.

First up is Amethyst which is densely packed with glitter. This can be worn without a base coat as it does completely cover the nail but I’m wearing it over Barry M Plum Gelly Paint, mainly to make removing it just a little easier!

Next is Fashion Icon from the Glitterati range. Possibly the prettiest purple ever!! The shimmer and glitter work beautifully together to create the most wonderful effect. Again, this is layered over the Plum Gelly Paint.

Daisy Nail Art: Step-by-Step Guide

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a step-by-step nail art but I thought it would be fun to start doing more of them!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I love a floral nail especially when it’s as easy to do as this one!

Step 1: After applying your base coat add two layers of your chosen colour. I’ve gone for a lovely pastel green. Barry M Quick Dry polish in Road Rage.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Step 2: Cover your nails with leaves. I used a small nail art brush but any small makeup brush you have or a dotting tool/hair grip would work just as well. Remember this doesn’t need to be perfectly neat.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Step 3: Now start adding flowers randomly over the leaves. I used my nail art brush but if you prefer more perfectly shaped petals a dotting tool would be a better idea. Start with the white section and finish with a dot in the middle.

Step 4: Seal your design with a top coat. Matte or glossy this is very pretty!

You can always change up the colours of this look for a manicure to match your outfit or mood!

I hope you find this little tutorial helpful. I would love to see your recreations of this! Tag me on instagram so I can have a look.

Winter Nail Designs!

As promised, I have more nail art to share using the Christmas stamping plate from Born Pretty Store! You can see my first post about this plate HERE.

For the two looks in this post I’ve gone for darker winter designs.

First up I have another snowflake print mani but this time I’ve gone for shades of purple. I used Barry M’s Plum Gelly Paint for the base and Lilac Foil for the snowflakes.

For my next look I used Barry M’s Black Multi Glitter with Silver Foil.

Vampire Nail Art: Step-By-Step!

Halloween is almost here so today I am sharing a simple vampire design with step-by-step photos!

Here is the finished design I will be showing you how to create..

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

And here is how to get this look for yourself..

vampire 2

Step 1: After applying your base coat, paint your nail with a crisp white polish.

Step 2: Create the hairline by drawing on two arches that meet in the middle of the nail.

Step 3: Fill in the hair. I’ve used Barry M’s black multi glitter polish for a little sparkle. Then add two dots for eyes.

Step 4: Now add a smile and a smaller dot of colour on the eyes. I’ve gone for blood red but a bright lime green or pumpkin orange would also work well.

Step 5: Add a tiny dot of white on each eye for depth and draw two pointy fangs.

Step 6: Fill in the fangs with white being careful to leave an outline, also draw on some little eyebrows. Once dry seal the design with your favourite top coat.

And there you have a simple vampire design perfect to wear this Halloween!

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Chai

I think nail of the day posts are some of my favourites. There’s nothing better than a nice block colour nail! This is Barry M’s Gelly Hi-Shine in Chai which really is a wonderful colour.

Chai is a lovely soft grey shade. Very delicate and pretty! These photos are of two coats and no top coat.

Halloween Patchwork Nails

Today I’m sharing my second Halloween nail art of the year!

Orange, green and purple are some of my favourite colours for Halloween so I’ve used all three to create a fun patchwork design!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

To create this spooky stitched look I used Barry M’s Bright Purple, Matte Waikiki and Satsuma Gelly Paint. I then used Barry M’s black nail art pen to add detail and finished with a glossy top coat.

This is a pretty easy Halloween nail art! And it looks great in other colours too! :)

Pretty In Pink

Recently I have really been loving nail art studs and rhinestones and one of the best places to get some at a bargain price is Ebay. I recently got a fantastic set for just £2.57!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It’s full of hundreds of cute pieces including fimo fruit shapes, flowers, bows and pearls!

I decided for my first nail design using this set to go for something simple but cute.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I chose Barry M’s Silk polish in Blossom as the base and White to add the polka dots and tip on my ring finger. I then added a small pearly pink bow.

I really like the sugary pink shade with the bow and polka dot detail. What do you think? :)

Leopard Print For Summer!

I think leopard print is possibly my favourite nail art. It looks great, is easy to do and there are so many variations that there’s always a new colour combination or placement to try out.

I recently did a pastel bright version using Barry M’s Gelly Paints in Prickly Pear and Greenberry and used their nail art pen to add detail.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

These are two of the best Gelly shades in my opinion and they look fantastic together! Here’s my finished nail design..

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

To get this look I added two layers of Prickly Pear over my base coat. Once my nails were dry I sponged Greenberry onto the bottom third of each nail. I then used a dotting tool to make the spots. To use a more equal share of each polish I added spots of green where lilac was the base and lilac spots on the green. I finished the design by adding the black detail and sealing with top coat.

I don’t think I will ever get bored of leopard print nails! What do you think of this colour combination?

Barry M: New For Summer

Barry M has released some really wonderful polishes for summer so when I was in Boots recently and saw an offer on I couldn’t resist picking a couple up! The offer was spend £6 on Barry M products and get a free limited edition nail paint.

I chose the limited edition shade Carousel, Waikiki from the new matte collection and Damson Gelly. All are perfect for summer!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

When I first saw the new summer matte shades Waikiki instantly caught my eye. Not only is the colour striking but I also love the name! I needed two coats for full coverage and this dried to a lovely soft matte finish. The zesty lime colour is brilliant and a fantastic addition to any polish collection.

Damson is a bold blue cream. One coat would be enough but I’ve used two to make the colour pop. The formula is fantastic just like other Gelly paints. I have very few bright blues so I am very pleased with this.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I love orange and coral shades for summer so Carousel definitely appealed to me. This is a deep orange with a lovely amount of gold shimmer running through it. For me this is the perfect summer holiday polish! The lid is also super cute! These photos are of two coats.
