Just A Little Sparkle

As I get older I’ve found my style changing a lot with nail art and colours. I never used to like the ‘nude’ nail look but recently I’ve been loving this understated and chic choice.

Make Up Gallery’s Simply Nude polish is a beautiful and natural shade that looks so lovely even on my super short nails! I am wearing two coats in these photos.

If you want to add a little sparkle then Pixi Dust Pink is the perfect addition. I love how this adds warmth and shine without being overpowering.

Make Up Gallery: Nail Art Decoration

Although I have been loving wearing plain colour polish recently, I love finding things that make me want to get creative with nail art. Make Up Gallery’s decoration set is perfect for experimenting with fun designs.

mug-stud-1

This set includes a wheel packed full of brightly coloured shapes (circles, squares and stars), 3 cuticle sticks, tweezers and a nail file. Definitely a bargain for just £1!

mug-stud-2

To show you how cute these little studs are I’ve kept each nail art quite simple.

For my first look I used Winter White for the base. I then carefully placed the circle studs into a flower shape. I love how these create a fun 60s hippie vibe!

For my second design I used Midnight Black and the star shapes to create a neon sky!

This set is such a great addition to any nail art collection, especially if you are just starting out or have never used studs before! I doubt you would find such a good quality set anywhere else.

Make Up Gallery: Matt Top Coat

Today I have a new and exclusive Make Up Gallery polish to share with you all! Their Matt Top Coat is the latest addition to their products and one that I am very excited about!

Let’s talk about the packaging first. As you can see, the bottle has a very stylish matt finish, which I think makes it look really lovely and much more expensive than it’s £1 price tag! The brush is a large flat style like the rest of Make Up Gallery’s polishes so application is quick and easy.

To show off this beautiful top coat I’ve gone for a nail art using three of my favourite things: purple, polka dots and flowers! I used the gorgeous Parma Violet as the base with Winter White for polka dots, which I did using Make Up Gallery’s marble dotting tool. After applying the top coat I added little flowers (not from Make Up Gallery) for a more interesting design.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The matt top coat applies smoothly and dries rather quickly. This turns matt before it is fully dry so be careful not to smudge your design!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Matt nails are always chic, especially as we go in to autumn, and what better than a good quality top coat at a such a low price! You can get this for yourself in Poundland very soon!

Nail Care With Make Up Gallery

Nail care has become an increasingly important part of my beauty routine over the last couple of years. Back when I started this blog in 2012 it was something I didn’t pay much attention to, preferring to just go straight to covering imperfections with nail polish. As I wanted to improve my nail art and swatches to share with you all I quickly learnt that the best way was to take more care of my nails and cuticles.

Today I’m sharing some super budget friendly products from Make Up Gallery that will get your nails looking beautiful!

_20160901_143530

Step 1 – Cuticle Oil: Brush the oil liberally over your cuticles and massage in. As your cuticles soften push them gently back. This oil is really fantastic for hydrating cuticles and soaks in very quickly. It’s more like a dry oil texture, think dry argan hair oil but for your nails.

Step 2 – Healthy Nails: At first I thought this was a polish but this is actually a nail oil. Brush this over the entire nail and massage in. Again, the texture of this is really good, not at all greasy! I also thought it left my nails looking much brighter and healthier.

Step 3 – Nail Hardener: Make sure your nails are oil free before applying this otherwise it will be bumpy and uneven. I like to remove excess oil with a moisturising polish remover. This nail hardener is super glossy and dries in a very impressive time! I use this when I’m not wearing colour and definitely love the natural glow it gives.

For only £1 each these are such a bargain! Pick them up at your local Poundland.

Jewel Colours: Going From Summer To Autumn

As much as I love summer and the lighter and brighter nail looks, I am definitely ready to start wearing deeper tones for autumn/winter.

Jewel colours are the perfect way to get in the mood for the darker shades coming up as they can be bold but still colourful enough to match your summer outfits.

I have two gorgeous polishes from Make Up Gallery that are perfect for the transition from summer to autumn.

First up is Sapphire Blue. This is a rich blue with lots of shimmer that reflects the light beautifully. It dries to a smooth finish unlike some poor quality shimmer polishes that leave a rough feel.

Next is Plum Temptation. This deep purple is gorgeous and has a subtle metallic shimmer. I’m a huge fan of purple polishes and this one is definitely a new favourite!

Make Up Gallery: Marilyn in Black & White!

Stamping plates are one of the best ways to get intricate nail designs with very little effort. I’ve built quite a collection of plates now and through lots of practice have found that not all polishes are suitable for getting a crisp image.

After playing around with Make Up Gallery over the last few weeks I thought I would try them out with stamping. I picked out one of my favourite plates, a Born Pretty Store plate with a Marilyn Monroe picture. I decided to let the stamping speak for itself so chose a monochrome look.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I used Winter White as the base. This is a very sheer white so I did three coats of this. I then used Midnight Black to stamp on my image.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

As you can see the design came out beautifully! I am very impressed with how well this polish picked up the design and transferred it to my nails. A much better result than I’ve had from more expensive brands!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Although some Make Up Gallery polishes won’t be suitable to stamp with, mostly the lighter shades, there are plenty that would be perfect and at just £1 it’s definitely a bargain!

Pastel & Metallic Polka Dots

I’ve really been loving pastel nail colours recently, especially when paired with a touch of metallic! I think it’s a really fun way to break up lighter shades and add some depth to your look.

Polka dots are a super easy way to add metallic to your muted base. Make Up Gallery have this stylish dotting tool set to make getting the look super easy!

pastel m 1

Each one has a dotting tool at both ends giving 8 sizes. Perfect for whatever nail art look you want to create. They also come in a very on trend marble pattern!

Make Up Gallery polish collection is fantastic with so many colours you can mix and match. I’ve picked two pairs of polishes to show how great wearing pastels and metallics can look.

First up I wanted a really light nail so I picked Pink Sherbet as the base with Vintage Pink dots.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I love how these colours look together!

Next is a slightly darker pastel look using Bambino Blue and Sapphire Blue.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

For both of these I tried to keep my dots evenly spaced and in lines, as much as possible, but a more random dot placement is just as pretty and can be less time consuming.

I hope this helps to inspire your next nail art!

Make Up Gallery: Nail Art Brush Set

Nail art is a great way to add individual style to your look and is a lot of fun to play around with. I love experimenting with colour combinations and patterns or pictures I can add on and if you do too then I highly recommend trying out Make Up Gallery’s nail art brushes set.

nail brushes 1

There are seven brushes for you to get creative with and endless possibilities!

I’ve kept my colour palette simple using only Sunshine Yellow and Midnight Black with the high gloss top coat.

nail brushes 2

Leopard print is my go to, easy nail art. It’s simple but very striking, especially in these colours! I got this look using the tiny dotting tool.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I wanted to use more than one brush for the next design, and using only black and yellow I naturally thought of cute bumble bees!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

For this bright summer mani I used the small dotting tool to create the dotty lines, the small orange brush to draw the bees and the striping brush for the lined nail.

For only £1 this set is more than worth it! Whether you are new to nail art or have been practicing for years this is a great set to have in your collection.

Make Up Gallery: Mermaid Nails!

Is there anything better than mermaid inspired nails for summer? Nope, I don’t think so either!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Today I am showing you how to get this gorgeous sparkly look using Make Up Gallery polishes.

mermaid 1

From left to right: Top &Base Coat, Bambino Blue, Mint Milkshake, Teal Tinsel

Start by applying two coats of colour, allow each coat to dry before adding the next. I’ve alternated between the two colours.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Next I used the dry brush technique to add depth. Use the opposite colour to the base and simply wipe most of the polish off the brush and sweep randomly over the nail.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Add glitter to the tips of the nails. Alternatively you could add it at the top of the nail or all over if you prefer extra sparkle.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Seal the design with top coat. I really love the glossy finish of this one!

I love a pastel nail and these ones from Make Up Gallery are fantastic even without nail art!

Summer Ready Nails With Make Up Gallery

Summer is here, not that you would know it with the very British weather we’ve been having, but I still love picking out warmer nail colours in the hope it will encourage the sunshine. Today I have three of the best shades to share from Make Up Gallery!

mug summer 1

Each of these will look beautiful paired with a tan or your natural skin tone and are definitely my top colours for summer ready nails.

I adore coral, especially at this time of year. Coral Craze is perfect! I love the subtle colour, it’s not quite pastel but it’s not too bright either. So if you’re a little nervous of colour then this is a great place to start.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Metallics are all over this season so you definitely need them on your nails too! Copper Kiss is a gorgeous shimmering bronze that will accentuate your tan to perfection!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

If you love pink then the creamy Candy Pink is just what you need. Brighten up any look with this pretty pop of colour.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I know I’ll be getting lots of wear out of these in the next few months and at just £1 each it’s great value if you do want to try something a bit out of your comfort zone.
