My Current Nail Care Favourites

The most important step in getting a beautiful mani is nail care! I’ve yet to find my perfect products for keeping my hands and nails healthy, I usually swap between the various things I have hoping to find a better combination. Today I’m sharing the three products I’m loving most right now!

First up is Makeup Gallery’s cuticle oil. I firmly believe price is not an indication of quality and this definitely proves it. At only £1 it’s a real bargain and works just as well as more expensive oils I’ve tried. The best thing about this is that it has more of a ‘dry oil’ formula and absorbs very quickly.

Avon Nail Experts Gold Strength is fantastic for days in between wearing colour polish. It helps improve the look of ‘bare’ nails by hiding ridges and giving a natural glow. I love wearing this for work when my nails are likely to get chipped as it keeps them looking healthy and the subtle shimmer is very pretty.

Lastly is Neutrogena concentrated hand cream. The formula of this is quite thick with a balm like feel on the skin. It absorbs well and does hydrate my hands. I’ve tried so many hand creams over the years and although I haven’t found the perfect one yet, this is definitely one of the best.

Perfect In Pink

Picking a nail polish when you have so many can be difficult and as much as I love wearing all different colours, if I’m not in the mood for searching through my collection I mostly end up grabbing a trusty pink shade. Whether I’m feeling a bold or pastel look, there is always a perfect pink.

Here are the three I’ve been reaching for most recently!

What I love most about these are the impressive drying times! All my most used polishes are ones that get my nails looking pretty without having to sit around for ages.

These are Make Up Gallery’s Candy Pink which is a creamy mid pink shade, Orly’s Cotton Candy which is a warm toned pastel that looks great even with my pale skin and Max Factor’s Forever Glam which is a rich pink with subtle violet shimmer.

First Impressions: Avon Gel Shine

Avon polishes are some of my favourites in my collection. They have a wide range of colours, and a variety of finishes. For my birthday back in December I received 5 of the Gel Shine polishes so thought I would share my first impressions of them.

As you can see I got a fantastic mix of shades! Each one is really beautiful, there’s not one I wouldn’t wear. These are Purplicious, Fabulous, Emerald City, Rain Washed and Lavender Sky.

I’ve found these great so far. They apply easily and look beautifully opaque after two coats. I’ve found the trying time quick too which is a definite bonus for me! The glossy finish of these is rather impressive as you would expect, though I do think I prefer Barry M Gelly Paints for a more lasting shine.

My favourites of these are Lavender Sky and Fabulous.

Marilyn & Joe: Lasting Love

On this day in 1954, Marilyn Monroe wed baseball star Joe DiMaggio at San Francisco City Hall.

Marilyn was one of the most glamorous stars at the time, however, rather than wearing an extravagant gown she opted for a conservative but chic brown suit with fur collar. Most probably this was to please her new husband who was uncomfortable with the attention Marilyn received from the press and the public, especially regarding her fashion choices.

The two stars had a turbulent marriage, divorcing after just 9 months, in October of 1954.

Although the relationship was over they were seen socialising after their divorce. Joe was even her date for the premiere of The Seven Year Itch which took place on Marilyn’s 29th birthday, June 1st 1955.

Marilyn and Joe remained friends until the end of her life, with Marilyn turning to him for support in her later years and even though their romantic relationship didn’t last, Joe’s love for Marilyn certainly never faded. After her death in 1962, Joe arranged for roses to be delivered to her crypt every week for 20 years. It’s reported that his final words before he died in 1999 were “I’ll finally get to see Marilyn.”

Born Pretty Store: Fruit Nail Decals

I love decals because they’re so quick to use, especially with fast drying polishes and top coats. These gorgeous fruit designs from Born Pretty Store are just wonderful.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

I love that these have a fun vintage/rockabilly vibe!

These are definitely the perfect way to jazz up any mani! First I had to try a candy pink with lots of decals.

For my second look I wanted to keep it simple but bold. I usually shy away from yellow polish but with a little pineapple decoration I love it!

As with all decals I’ve tried from Born Pretty Store these are really fantastic quality, easy to use and perfect for all nail lengths! These are a must have!

Review: Max Factor Lipgloss

Happy New Year!

One of the biggest resolutions I’ve made is to spend less money on new makeup and to make the most of all the great products in my collection! As much as I love buying the latest product releases, and splurging on high end lipstick, there are a few more important ways I would like to spend my money in 2017.

So here’s a little review of some great products I’ve had for a while but never shared..

I’ve always been a lipstick fan, preferring the lightweight feel they offer rather than the heavier slick of gloss. But as I rediscover the makeup in my collection I’ve been loving giving lipgloss another go.

Today I’m sharing two beautiful shades from Max Factor’s Colour Elixir range, Captivating Ruby and Polished Fuchsia.

As I am sure you can tell, Captivating Ruby is a classic red and Polished Fuchsia is a bold pink. In the packaging they look almost identical but once you open them up the tones are rather obvious.

I love the intense colour just one swipe of these give! Very impressive for a gloss I think. And they don’t feel overly sticky or gloopy on the lips either which is one of the many reasons I usually reach for a lipstick.

I personally prefer the red shade but both are absolutely gorgeous!

Sparkle Into The New Year

Today I’m sharing two of my favourite Barry M glitter polishes to inspire your next nail look!

Celebrating the New Year is the perfect time to wear all the glitter! So here are my two picks for nails that will sparkle the brightest.

First up is Amethyst which is densely packed with glitter. This can be worn without a base coat as it does completely cover the nail but I’m wearing it over Barry M Plum Gelly Paint, mainly to make removing it just a little easier!

Next is Fashion Icon from the Glitterati range. Possibly the prettiest purple ever!! The shimmer and glitter work beautifully together to create the most wonderful effect. Again, this is layered over the Plum Gelly Paint.

Getting Festive With Make Up Gallery

Glitter polish is one of my favourite ways to get a festive look without the time and effort of nail art! I love that you can wear as little or as much glitter as you like and layering over different base colours can completely change it’s style!

Today I’m sharing a perfectly Christmas-y glitter top coat from Make Up Gallery along with two amazing colours to wear it with.

First up is Silver Storm. This frosted silver is so cute for winter!

And here is how it looks with Rainbow Sparkle on top!

I just love everything about this. The way it catches the light is wonderful.

Next is a more festive red. This is called Blood Red.

I don’t know about you, but this definitely screams Christmas to me! And I LOVE it!

Rainbow Sparkle is an incredible way to add festive cheer to your mani. The mix of colours and shapes means your nails will shine like the best decorated tree! And it’s such a bargain at just £1!

Snowflakes Are Falling!

Snowflakes are falling!

I’ve not had much chance to create many festive posts but today I have something simple and seasonal.

For my snowflake nails I used a stamping plate from Born Pretty Store which you can see more of HERE.

This is with Barry M’s BlackBerry and Avon’s Gold Leaf. Finished with a matte top coat.

This brighter version is with Barry M’s Blood Orange, Avon’s Gold Leaf and a glossy top coat.

Just A Little Sparkle

As I get older I’ve found my style changing a lot with nail art and colours. I never used to like the ‘nude’ nail look but recently I’ve been loving this understated and chic choice.

Make Up Gallery’s Simply Nude polish is a beautiful and natural shade that looks so lovely even on my super short nails! I am wearing two coats in these photos.

If you want to add a little sparkle then Pixi Dust Pink is the perfect addition. I love how this adds warmth and shine without being overpowering.
