Born Pretty Store: Safari Stamping Plate

Born Pretty Store have a wide variety of stamping plates and I was lucky enough to be sent three to review so today I’m sharing the first one with you.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

As you can see this plate has some super cute designs! All of these are perfect for summer nail art or if you love animals!

The designs transfer easily and look really pretty on the nails!

After a lot of practicing with various nail polishes I found metallic polishes work amazingly with stamping and look great against a bold base colour! Any polishes that need two or three coats to get full coverage do not work well with stamping!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It’s also important to remember not to put too much polish on the plate as it’s more likely to smudge the design when you transfer it if you do.

I love how many different looks you can come up with using stamping plates and I know this one in particular is going to be used a lot this summer!

Nail Geek: Paints Collection

At the beginning of the week I shared my thoughts on Makeup Revolution’s newly released Nail Geek collection and today I have the first set of swatches for you!

The Paints collection is made up of 5 bold shades that would be perfect for summer or anyone that loves colourful fingertips. Each swatch is of two coats of polish, except for Holiday, and no top coat.

Holiday is a classic sunshine yellow. I found that three thin coats was best as it can be a little streaky, but that’s the case with every yellow polish I own!

Flare is an almost neon orange. Very bright but so beautiful!

Into The Night has a tinted formula that on the first coat looks like it will need a lot of layering but just two layers is enough for perfect coverage. This deep blue is my favourite of the collection.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Summer Lovin’ also has a tinted formula but unfortunately this one does stain a little so a good quality base coat is needed! This pink is gorgeous though and very glossy.

Refresher is a delightful apple green shade with a subtle gold and violet shimmer. Very pretty!

Halloween Patchwork Nails

Today I’m sharing my second Halloween nail art of the year!

Orange, green and purple are some of my favourite colours for Halloween so I’ve used all three to create a fun patchwork design!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

To create this spooky stitched look I used Barry M’s Bright Purple, Matte Waikiki and Satsuma Gelly Paint. I then used Barry M’s black nail art pen to add detail and finished with a glossy top coat.

This is a pretty easy Halloween nail art! And it looks great in other colours too! :)

Makeup Revolution: Nail Polish Swatches Part 5

For part 5 of my Makeup Revolution nail polish swatches I have 4 gorgeous shades to show you!

Emerald Eyes is a striking metallic green. A really fantastic bold polish!

Cool Days is a lovely fresh pastel blue. This definitely needs 3 thin coats to get a nice even coverage but it is a wonderful spring colour.

Trust Me is a gorgeous teal cream and a colour I particularly love. I’ve already worn this a couple of times!

And lastly is Wanted. This is a gorgeous light sea green shade in a metallic finish. Looking at this in the bottle I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do, it’s a spectacular mermaid polish!

Ocean Gradient

Today’s nail art is something I’ve not done yet.. Gradient! I’ve had a go at it in the past and it never went well! But I think this time it has turned out quite nicely. Ocean and Mermaid themes are being seen quite a lot as we go into spring so I thought I would go along with that and use my Barry M Gelly Paints to create an ocean gradient look.

Ocean Gradient 1

Ocean Gradient 3

I kept this simple and left the gradient as an accent. I painted my ring finger fully in Greenberry and let it dry. I then added the Blueberry onto a makeup sponge and dabbed it on to about two thirds of the nail. Once that had dried a little (it seems to work best when it’s tacky, not completely dry) I added the Blackberry shade to it. Then I add MUA Clear Topcoat to add back the shine lost from adding the polish with a sponge. The rest of my nails are painted with 2 coats of Blueberry.

Have you tried gradient nails before?

Let me know what you think!

Dreamcatcher

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a nail art and today I have one using some of the new polishes which I have been writing reviews on.

I attempted a new design and I have to say I am just a little proud of how well it turned out. I chose to base this look around a dreamcatcher. I wanted that to be the main focus of the design so I kept the other nails quite simple. This is the design..

Dreamcatcher 1

What do you think?

I was unsure of trying to create a feather, I have never done it before, but I gave it a go anyway and I actually think I like it more than the dreamcatcher! I left the other nails plain in colour but used my textured polish on my little finger.

Dreamcatcher 2

For this look I used Sally Hansen Hard On Nails in White Tip and Barry M polishes in Black, Prickly Pear, Greenberry, Satsuma and Kingsland Road.

I’d love to hear any thoughts you have on my nail art. Thank you for reading!

Little Owls ♥

Today I’m sharing a cute owl nail design. :)

Owls 1

I chose to use our teal purple.

I’m actually quite proud of these. I think they look adorable! And they were quite easy to do! I used the side of the polish brush for the wings and a hair grip for everything else. It’s all made up of dots! I love how well the feather detail turned out. All I did was make a dot in the lighter colour then added a dot of the base colour over the top to get the half moon shape. So easy!

Owls 2

What do you think of my owl nails?

Polishes used: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Watermelon, Plum and Prickly Pear. Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Lemon Sugar and Avon SpeedDry+  in Don’t Be Jaded.

Leopard Print!

I used to think leopard print was a bit tacky but just recently I’ve been really into all types of animal print. I even have giraffe print sunglasses!

So, looking at a few pictures of leopard print I wondered exactly how hard it could be to create this look in a nail art. It turned out to be one of the easiest looks ever! (: And, like always I have only used a hair grip. I may one day invest in some nail art pens! Ha! (:

I chose mint green just because it looks good with my hair. Vain, I know, but I love the colour. Okay, so once the base coat was dry I made splodges using the hair grip in a goldy colour. And then just went around the edges with black, leaving little gaps here and there. You really need a top coat with this as it looks a bit bumpy without.

Very simple, but oh so cute!
