Little Robot Nail Art

Makeup Revolution polishes are perfect for nail art and until I have another set of swatches to share I thought I would come up with a few designs using my favourite shades!

Here’s a little robot I did recently..

To create this design I used Look Of Love as the base on my ring finger, You Need Love for my other nails and Hopes and Dreams for the robot and dots. I’ve also used Barry M’s black nail art pen to add detail. To finish the look I added Rimmel’s matte topcoat.

Hopes and Dreams really is the best shade for a robot! You can check out my swatches of these and some other polishes Here.

What do you think of this super cute design?

Pretty In Pink

Recently I have really been loving nail art studs and rhinestones and one of the best places to get some at a bargain price is Ebay. I recently got a fantastic set for just £2.57!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It’s full of hundreds of cute pieces including fimo fruit shapes, flowers, bows and pearls!

I decided for my first nail design using this set to go for something simple but cute.

I chose Barry M’s Silk polish in Blossom as the base and White to add the polka dots and tip on my ring finger. I then added a small pearly pink bow.

I really like the sugary pink shade with the bow and polka dot detail. What do you think? :)

Pretty Polka Dots & Roses

It’s been a little while since I last posted any Makeup Revolution nail polish swatches. I will be posting another set next week but until then I have a cute nail art using their polishes to show you.

I’ve gone for a simple rose and polka dot design and here’s what I used to create it.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

L-R: Never Enough, Boy Needs A Girl, Love etc, Wanted, Primark Matte Top Coat, dotting tool.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I started by painting each nail with two coats of Never Enough. This vintage pink makes the perfect base for this delicate design! I then added polka dots to every nail except my ring finger using a dotting tool and Boy Needs A Girl. For the roses I used the dotting tool to add Love etc in quite big spots. When dry I applied Boy Needs A Girl to the centre and Wanted at the sides for leaves. I then finished the look with a layer of matte topcoat.

I think this super girly floral design is very pretty! What do you think?

Blue & Pink Leopard Nails!

I absolutely adore leopard print, especially as nail art! I’ve done a couple of posts of leopard nail designs now but there’s always another colour combination to try out and show you all. Today’s variation features two very pretty Makeup Revolution polishes!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

For this cute design I painted my nails with two coats of True Blue. I then added spots of You Need Love with a dotting tool. Once dry I added the detail with Barry M’s black nail art pen and finished with matte topcoat.

I think these polishes look fantastic together!

I’ve been playing around with my Makeup Revolution polishes a lot since I got them so expect to see quite a few more nail arts using them!

Makeup Revolution: Nail Polish Swatches Part 2

As promised, this post is swatches of the last four polishes from my Makeup Revolution haul.

As with the last set of swatches, all these photos are of 3 coats in natural light and with flash on.

To start off is True Blue which is a really lovely pastel cream. This soft shade is stunning and I love that it still looks nice next to my pale skin. This would look great with a tan too!

Call Me Naïve is a very delicate nude pink that looks almost white in some lights. I think it’s possibly the palest pink I’ve ever seen! It’s very subtle and dainty.

Next is maybe my favourite, You Need Love. This is a truly wonderful pink! I adore super girly shades and this is definitely that. It’s a very sweet colour!

Lastly, I have Streetcar Desire, the only glitter polish from my haul. It’s a gorgeous sparkly pink made up of two differently sized flecks in a clear base. I’ve added one coat over the top of You Need Love. I absolutely love these two together!

I hope you like my swatches and at only £1 each (£1.50 for Streetcar Desire) I suggest you give Makeup Revolution’s polishes a try too! :)

Dreamcatcher

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a nail art and today I have one using some of the new polishes which I have been writing reviews on.

I attempted a new design and I have to say I am just a little proud of how well it turned out. I chose to base this look around a dreamcatcher. I wanted that to be the main focus of the design so I kept the other nails quite simple. This is the design..

Dreamcatcher 1

What do you think?

I was unsure of trying to create a feather, I have never done it before, but I gave it a go anyway and I actually think I like it more than the dreamcatcher! I left the other nails plain in colour but used my textured polish on my little finger.

Dreamcatcher 2

For this look I used Sally Hansen Hard On Nails in White Tip and Barry M polishes in Black, Prickly Pear, Greenberry, Satsuma and Kingsland Road.

I’d love to hear any thoughts you have on my nail art. Thank you for reading!

Barry M Textured Effect: Kingsland Road

On Monday I purchased 2 new Barry M polishes, the textured effects in Kingsland Road (pink) and one of the new Gelly Hi-Shine Shades in Greenberry. Aren’t they just the most delicious ice-cream colours?!

Kingsland Road 1

Today I am going to share my thoughts on Kingsland Road. I’d been eager to give this a go from the moment I heard about it, I personally love the textured look  and the pretty pastel shade of Kingsland Road is pefrect for spring so I thought I’d give this one a go first.

Kingsland Road 2

This applies a lot easier than I thought considering the granules are tightly packed. From the look of the end result I thought this was going to be more hassle to put on  but I was pleasantly surprised that it goes on as easily as any other polish. It needs 2 or 3 coats to achieve full opacity but as it dries quickly that’s not an issue.

After the first coat I have to say I was a little under whelmed, it didn’t quite meet my expectations (not that I’m sure what I expected)  but after adding another layer  it soon perked up and created a beautiful manicure which I now completely adore. The sugary texture reminds me of rainbow drops or sherbet and gives a really interesting look.

Kingsland Road 4Kingsland Road 5

The second coat is a little more difficult to apply as the surface is already uneven but luckily this dries so that no streaks are visible! Quite remarkable for an effect polish!

I like that the texture is a lot softer than you would imagine. I thought it was going to be quite scratchy and irritating but it really isn’t. The only bad thing I’ve found with this polish so far is that it does seem to cling on to any dirt which is disappointing. I don’t think it will put me off wearing it though. The lovely delicate pink and fascinating texture is just too good!

Kingsland Road 6

Kingsland Road 7

I personally think this texture looks great. Teddi however thinks totally different and feels it looks like any other polish that has been poorly applied, in fact she said ‘it looks like how I put on any polish’. Do you agree? Is this a texture you would wear?

Kingsland Road 8

I don’t usually mention anything about removing the polish but with this I think it’s worth knowing. I thought, because of the texture, this would be similar to a glitter in terms of difficulty in taking it off. I was all ready to spend a good 20 minutes removing every trace but was super impressed when it came off just like any other polish! I love a bit of sparkle but tend to not wear some of my glitters because of how long it takes to get it off and I know if this polish was like that it would be kept in my storage box and only brought out occasionally. I am very glad that this isn’t like that though and can stay in my everyday polish box (yes, I have two boxes for all my polishes) and be worn more. :)

I hope to add the other textured polishes to my collection soon. Have you tried any of them yet?

Pink Tribal Pattern

Just a quick post for you today. This time something simple using only 2 colours, Barry M Bright Pink and a black nail art pen. I think the contrast of the black against a pink like this is great. :)

I wanted to try out a tribal/aztec design (ring finger), I had nail foils with a similar pattern and they looked amazing. It wasn’t as hard as I expected, it’s just  dots and lines, but it does need a steady hand! That’s why I chose to only have it on one finger. The other nails I wanted to keep as simple patterns so that the ring finger would stand out. :)

Hope you are all having a good day!

Pink Strawberry

A while back I posted a cute strawberry nail art look. I thought I would try it out again using my new nail art pens. :) I decided to go for girly pink strawberries this time, I’m really in to pastels right now! I used a Bourjois colour (not sure what shade this is) for the light pink and the Barry M Retro Pink for the darker version.

Check out how to get this look here… https://rarareid.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/simple-strawberry-for-summer/
