Make Up Gallery: Nail Art Decoration

Although I have been loving wearing plain colour polish recently, I love finding things that make me want to get creative with nail art. Make Up Gallery’s decoration set is perfect for experimenting with fun designs.

mug-stud-1

This set includes a wheel packed full of brightly coloured shapes (circles, squares and stars), 3 cuticle sticks, tweezers and a nail file. Definitely a bargain for just £1!

mug-stud-2

To show you how cute these little studs are I’ve kept each nail art quite simple.

For my first look I used Winter White for the base. I then carefully placed the circle studs into a flower shape. I love how these create a fun 60s hippie vibe!

For my second design I used Midnight Black and the star shapes to create a neon sky!

This set is such a great addition to any nail art collection, especially if you are just starting out or have never used studs before! I doubt you would find such a good quality set anywhere else.

Make Up Gallery: Matt Top Coat

Today I have a new and exclusive Make Up Gallery polish to share with you all! Their Matt Top Coat is the latest addition to their products and one that I am very excited about!

Let’s talk about the packaging first. As you can see, the bottle has a very stylish matt finish, which I think makes it look really lovely and much more expensive than it’s £1 price tag! The brush is a large flat style like the rest of Make Up Gallery’s polishes so application is quick and easy.

To show off this beautiful top coat I’ve gone for a nail art using three of my favourite things: purple, polka dots and flowers! I used the gorgeous Parma Violet as the base with Winter White for polka dots, which I did using Make Up Gallery’s marble dotting tool. After applying the top coat I added little flowers (not from Make Up Gallery) for a more interesting design.

The matt top coat applies smoothly and dries rather quickly. This turns matt before it is fully dry so be careful not to smudge your design!

Matt nails are always chic, especially as we go in to autumn, and what better than a good quality top coat at a such a low price! You can get this for yourself in Poundland very soon!

Born Pretty Store: 6 Piece Nail Art Dotting Tool

Freehand nail art is one of my favourite ways of creating fun designs. I love that you can be creative and come up with so many unique looks. But sometimes working on such a small surface can be frustrating so I love finding things to help control the polish and to make all kinds of shapes and patterns. Born Pretty Store has a good selection of tools to help and today I am sharing one of the best!

dotting 1

This 6 piece dotting tool is not only useful but it is also super pretty! There are 5 dotting heads in various sizes and a ‘fountain pen’ tool which I was so excited to try! The top unscrews so you can store the extra parts inside the brushed metal case. Perfect for travelling and easy storage!

I was so excited about the pen shape tool that I just had to try it out as soon as it arrived! I decided to do a fun watermelon design on my ring finger.

I love this summery art and I am very impressed by how the pen let me create much smaller detail. I know that is definitely going to come in handy in future designs!

I also wanted to try out a few of the dotting heads in one design so what could be better than a colourful polka dot look!

This nail art tool is fantastic for creating so many nail arts. I would definitely recommend this to all of you!

Born Pretty Store: Bird Stamping Plate

It’s time for more pretty things from Born Pretty Store! This stamping plate is a perfect addition to any nail art collection..

owl plate 1

Each design is beautifully detailed and a great way of adding something fun to your manicure!

I’ve been loving pastel colours just recently so I used two to create the base. I then added a cage on one nail and then the bird with flowers print on another.

I love that it looks like the bird has flown away from the cage!

For my next look I decided on much brighter shades. Neon flamingos are perfect for making dull days look better!

As with every plate I’ve tried, each design transferred really well on to the nails! There are plenty of images perfect no matter the length of your nails too. I also love the variety of single images and full nail designs.

Pretty In Pink

Recently I have really been loving nail art studs and rhinestones and one of the best places to get some at a bargain price is Ebay. I recently got a fantastic set for just £2.57!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It’s full of hundreds of cute pieces including fimo fruit shapes, flowers, bows and pearls!

I decided for my first nail design using this set to go for something simple but cute.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I chose Barry M’s Silk polish in Blossom as the base and White to add the polka dots and tip on my ring finger. I then added a small pearly pink bow.

I really like the sugary pink shade with the bow and polka dot detail. What do you think? :)

Pretty Polka Dots & Roses

It’s been a little while since I last posted any Makeup Revolution nail polish swatches. I will be posting another set next week but until then I have a cute nail art using their polishes to show you.

I’ve gone for a simple rose and polka dot design and here’s what I used to create it.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

L-R: Never Enough, Boy Needs A Girl, Love etc, Wanted, Primark Matte Top Coat, dotting tool.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I started by painting each nail with two coats of Never Enough. This vintage pink makes the perfect base for this delicate design! I then added polka dots to every nail except my ring finger using a dotting tool and Boy Needs A Girl. For the roses I used the dotting tool to add Love etc in quite big spots. When dry I applied Boy Needs A Girl to the centre and Wanted at the sides for leaves. I then finished the look with a layer of matte topcoat.

I think this super girly floral design is very pretty! What do you think?

Spring Nail Art!

I was recently contacted by the nail polish brand Julep letting me know about a lovely just-for-fun competition they are running throughout April. The competition is to create spring themed nail art and every week they will pick the best designs to share on their twitter page.

I couldn’t think of a better time to get out my spring polish shades and start practicing a few designs! Here’s a couple of looks I came up with..

Spring always brings to mind flowers so a super simple daisy nail art seemed very appropriate. I kept the look quite understated with a single daisy on the tips. This is the look in glossy and matte.

I also did a cute polka dot design using perfect for spring pastels. I used various sized dotting tools to create the polka dots and added a matte top coat for a cute satin finish.

Easy to do nail art like these are great for jazzing up your nails with little effort! And I love the pastel shades.

Have you tried any spring inspired designs on your nails yet?

Pink Tribal Pattern

Just a quick post for you today. This time something simple using only 2 colours, Barry M Bright Pink and a black nail art pen. I think the contrast of the black against a pink like this is great. :)

I wanted to try out a tribal/aztec design (ring finger), I had nail foils with a similar pattern and they looked amazing. It wasn’t as hard as I expected, it’s just  dots and lines, but it does need a steady hand! That’s why I chose to only have it on one finger. The other nails I wanted to keep as simple patterns so that the ring finger would stand out. :)

Hope you are all having a good day!

Take That Rockstar Nails

I’ve been looking everywhere for inspiration for nail art and as we go into Autumn there are lots of leather and lace emerging in fashion. A rockier edge is on trend right now and I am so pleased. I can bring out my black polish again without it looking weird!

So today’s nail look is a rockstar version of the moon manicure. I painted my nails using Barry M Black and with a Rio gold nail art pen I added dots along the nail bed where the moon usually is. :)

As you can see, I also added the Take That logo onto my ring finger. I still can’t seem to get away from the accent nail trend! But I think this looks really cool. :)

A very simple look. And something a bit more interesting than just plain black nails. :)

Hope you are all having a good day!

Little Ladybird

I am slightly obsessed with the accent nail trend, as I’m sure you can tell. And this time I’ve got a cute little ladybird to show you.

I think this is just so fun! I especially like the googly eyes. :’)

I did this using Barry M’s Bright Red polish and I chose a black glittery nail art pen. I wanted my ladybird to be a bit jazzy! The ladybird was done just by adding a slightly curved tip and a line down the middle of the nail. Then I just added the spots and the eyes. Easy! :) I chose to have polka dots on the other nails too, but you could leave them block red if you want your ladybird to really stand out.

I think this is a really great design for beginners because it so simple and doesn’t need much of a steady hand. If nail art is new to you this would be a perfect place to start. :)
