I love stamping plates as they help me create nail art that I wouldn’t be able to get if done freehand and houndstooth is a design I’ve been wanting to wear on my nails for a long time but I’ve never managed to get it quite right!

So of course, the first nail art I tried with this plate, was the houndstooth! I’ve kept the look simple and chic in black and grey.

Born Pretty Store: Vintage Style Decals

It’s been a while since my last post! I’ve moved house and until now I haven’t been able to get anything written and photographed. But I’m back and today I have some of the best decals ever from Born Pretty Store! This set is a fantastic deal not only because of the gorgeous designs but you also get 3 sheets of decals!!

As you can see you get plenty of images and they are all very detailed. I’m a huge fan of anything vintage so I really love the pinup style decals and the animals are all adorable!

I’ve done three nail art looks using these decals to give you some ideas on various ways to wear them.

My first look is the most simple. Sometimes all you need is a little something to jazz up a plain polish and wearing just one decal on your ring finger is a perfect way to do that.

 

A bold red polish is perfect to show off the vintage decals! I’ve also tried to do retro half moons to add to the glam!

 

For my last look I used decals on each nail. I think the pretty flowers compliments the pastel pink beautifully.

Born Pretty Store: Punk Style Stamping Plate

I’m sharing another brilliant stamping plate from Born Pretty Store in today’s post. They have a wide variety of designs in their range of stamping plates so I picked out something a little different to review this time. I chose this punk style plate..

This is definitely the kind of nails I would have loved when I was sixteen! I think the little skulls and keep calm design are really great!

For my first look using this plate I used the skull image on every nail. I chose two beautiful pastel blue polishes to soften the design and keep it looking summery.

 

For my second nail art I used the numbers print!

 

I love these polishes together and this design is just so fun!

This plate has a great set of single images and print designs that are perfect to create endless nail art looks and all of the images transfer wonderfully on to the nails. Born Pretty Store: Festival Nail Art

I have another fantastic stamping plate from Born Pretty Store to share with you today!

This stamping plate has a love theme to it along with some other pretty designs. I actually picked this plate because of the chevrons. I think they look so chic but I’ve never been able to do them freehand!

Here’s the look I came up with..

I chose three bright polishes for this gradient design which I think looks really nice against the white base. This would be a really fun nail art for summer and especially if you’re going to any festivals! I also quite like how the design came out slightly faded as it just adds to the festival vibe.

I think this stamping plate is really great as it has a lovely little selection of images. The stripes and chevrons make this a must-have if you want stylish nail art that doesn’t take forever to do.

Marilyn Monroe In Pop Art

It’s been quite a while since my last post and today I have one of my favourite looks I’ve done to share with you! For the nail art in this post I used another fantastic stamping plate from Born Pretty Store.

As you can see there are some gorgeous designs but, of course, the Marilyn Monroe image is the reason I chose to review this stamping plate!

I wanted to keep Marilyn as the focal point of the design but I didn’t think plain colour and an accent nail would be good enough so I decided to have Marilyn on every nail! I chose to go for a pop art look so I picked out some bold polishes to work with.

My stamping skills clearly need a little more work but I just love how this turned out!

I was a little worried that the image wouldn’t fit on my short nails but it transferred really well!

I definitely recommend getting this stamping plate if you want fabulous nail art. If Marilyn can’t make your nails look glam then nothing can!

Born Pretty Store: Safari Stamping Plate

Born Pretty Store have a wide variety of stamping plates and I was lucky enough to be sent three to review so today I’m sharing the first one with you.

As you can see this plate has some super cute designs! All of these are perfect for summer nail art or if you love animals!

The designs transfer easily and look really pretty on the nails!

 

After a lot of practicing with various nail polishes I found metallic polishes work amazingly with stamping and look great against a bold base colour! Any polishes that need two or three coats to get full coverage do not work well with stamping!

It’s also important to remember not to put too much polish on the plate as it’s more likely to smudge the design when you transfer it if you do.

 

I love how many different looks you can come up with using stamping plates and I know this one in particular is going to be used a lot this summer!

Born Pretty Store: Stamper & Scraper Set

Born Pretty Store very kindly sent me a few products to review and today I have the first one to share with you. I’ve not tried stamping nail art before so getting a stamping set and plates (which I will be sharing with you very soon!) was really great!

This stamper set comes in a vibrant pink colour and is the perfect size to transfer designs on to your nails easily. I think this is the perfect set for any stamping beginner! It’s simple to use, easy to clean and transfers the polish beautifully onto the nail.

As you can see, the scraper comes apart so you can clean it fully which is very useful! I used a cotton pad and nail polish remover to clean any excess polish which worked really well.

Unfortunately this set didn’t come with any instructions so I had to practice quite a bit to get the hang of transferring the designs neatly! I found it best to use the scraper at a about a 45 degree angle and to roll the Stamper gently over the image. Sometimes I have to clean up around the design on the Stamper before putting it on my nail but I’m sure I will get better at it the more I use it.

Overall, this is a great little set and one I definitely recommend!

I just love the watercolour style of this set. I think they’re perfect for creating delicate nail art and the colours are perfect for spring!

I’ve kept this look really simple and bright. I especially love how the peach colour looks against the vibrant green!

I love all the designs in this set. They’re so cute and really easy to use. I’m sure all you beauty bloggers out there would love the little perfume bottle and lipstick decals in this set, I know I do!

I ❤ Makeup: Nail Geek

Makeup Revolution have fast become one of the most talked about beauty brands with their incredible products and amazing prices. And their sister brand, I ❤ Makeup, is just as popular!

If you are a regular reader then you will know what a fan I am of their nail polish so when I was contacted recently about trying out their newly released Nail Geek collection I was so excited!

There are 45 fabulous new shades that you can buy individually for £1.99 or in collections of 5 for just £7.95!

As you can see the bottles are different to the original Makeup Revolution polishes. For me, the new square shape looks a lot better! The brush has also been updated and is now flat and wide which makes painting your nails much easier and quicker.

Makeup Revolution has really impressed me with this new collection! After trying out a few of the polishes it seems the new formula is really wonderful. The polish goes on smoothly and dries quickly to a glossy finish. From the polishes I have tried out the darker colours need only 1 or 2 coats for opaque and streak free colour but the lighter shades do need to be layered. I will, of course, let you know if this is not the case as I post swatches.

There are so many gorgeous new shades and I can’t wait to share them all with you. Check back soon as I will be posting swatches of the full Nail Geek polish collection!
