Makeup Revolution: Nail Polish Swatches Part 8

I have more Makeup Revolution swatches for you today! As with my last set of swatches, these are mostly light shades so for best results I’ve used three thin coats.

Still Missing My Baby is a nice ivory polish. In some lights this has a slight lemon tone and in others it looks like a delicate antique cream. I’m not usually a fan of white polishes on their own, I prefer to use them just for nail art, but this is one I would make an exception for.

Luxury Cream is a crisp white shade. As I’ve said, I really only wear white polish if I’m doing nail art over it, so this isn’t something you will see alone on my nails again. However, this is a perfect base for a little fancy art or to be used for detail in any design.

Promises is a lovely shade of grey. It’s a nice neutral tone so is perfect for everyday/work wear!

Hopes and Dreams is a light metallic grey/silver. This has a slightly thicker formula than the other polishes from Makeup Revolution and dries to a semi-matte finish.

Maybe Tonight is a dark grey with a small amount of gold shimmer. This is such a spectacular colour! Definitely a favourite of mine.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine – Blood Orange

I finally went and got myself one of the stunning polishes from Barry M’s new Gelly Hi-Shine range. So for today’s post I wanted to share my thoughts on it. There are 9 shades in total, all of which are just beautiful! I chose to get Blood Orange as it’s a colour I’d wear a lot. It’s the most perfect classic red polish. Super bright and sophisticated! A timeless shade you can wear all year round. :)

Now, I’ve read various people’s thoughts on this particular shade since getting it and there’s been some mixed feelings towards it. Some said that you needed 2 or 3 coats to no longer see your nail line through it but I couldn’t disagree more. This is how it looks..

These photos are of just one coat and as you can see there is full coverage, no streaks and the final result is incredible. A glossy finish just as the name suggests! I’m not sure why others that have tried this didn’t get the same results that I did, maybe different application techniques, who knows! But I am very impressed with this and I can’t wait to try out the Watermelon and Blueberry shades too. :)

Have you tried any Gelly paints yet? What are your thoughts?

A Little Bit Rockabilly

I love all things vintage and quirky and planning my 50s tea party themed wedding has made me a little bit more obsessed. Still a year to go until the big day but I can’t help but search endlessly for anything and everything that is even a little bit retro! Planning all the little things takes up so much time, but it’s so fun!

So going from that, I have done a rockabilly inspired nail art. Maybe something similar to this for our bridesmaids?

I started by applying a base coat of the lovely bright Barry M Red. Then to make the bow I used my hair grip to put a dot in the middle of my ring finger and then add the tringle-ish shape either side. I added dots to the other nails as I waited for the bow to dry, then I put 2 black lines in to the sides of the bow to add dimension.

Quite an easy nail art! The bow can be a little tricky the first few tries, but practice makes perfect. :)
